Déjà vu… At the writing of this letter Hurricane Isaac is pounding New Orleans. Seven years ago to the date, Hurricane Katrina was doing the same thing. I had been on staff here at the church since June and was feeling a little bored with ministry. It’s not that I didn’t love the ministry but football had begun. Being a former coach, I began to feel as if I was in the wrong place. Needless to say, God knew my thoughts. He also knew I would rarely be bored. God had other plans for me.
During Katrina and the months following the storm, our church became a shelter for so many people. These people had been displaced. They were hurting, needing help, and seeking answers. God had placed these people here and there was plenty of ministry to do. God’s timing is always perfect.
Answering His call to ministry has been a huge blessing in my life. You see, when we are called to do something and we do it, God blesses us.
So let me close by encouraging each of you to do the things that God has called you to do. It will be a blessing to others and especially to you.
In Christ’s Love,
Brother Bo
