A Letter From Our Pastor

Dear Church Family,

Dear church family it’s hard to believe we are in the middle of the holidays.  We just celebrated Thanksgiving for the goodness of God and now we are looking forward to Jesus’ birthday.  What a wonderful time of the year!  I want to take this opportunity to remind all of us what this season is about.  God’s love, goodness and the blessings he has given us.  For example, the blessing of living in America.   Most importantly, the  forgiveness of our sins because he chose to send his son to save us.  It’s this time that we are reminded to be kind to others, to call friends and family to say I love you, and do things that are out of the ordinary.  That’s just it…. These things should not be out of the ordinary…as Christians, this should be our every day.  I am not “casting stones”, I am preaching to myself also.

If we are the “light of the world”, then we should shine bright every day.  Brother Robert was sharing a story about being the light of the world to one of our youth.  The youth looked at him and in all seriousness, asked, “Then why is everything so dark?”  Such a profound question from a young person.  We have to ask ourselves, if we are salt and light, then we have to let our light shine every day.

May I suggest we consider our New Year’s resolution?  Perhaps our slogan for 2013 is “Don’t be mean in 2013”.  It sounds comical, but maybe we should seriously consider how kind we are to others.  What kind of light do we shine?  Do we make a positive difference in our little world?

Let me close by saying how grateful I am that God led us to Community Chapel and such a loving church family.

I love you all.  God bless.  Happy “Holy”days,

Brother Bo
