It’s hard to believe that school has already started. The summer is winding down and hopefully cooler weather won’t be too far behind! As you know, September is the start of our new church year and this next year is going to be another exciting one for our youth.
This is an International Youth Convention year! International Youth Convention (IYC2014) is “a four-day, biennial gathering of high school students and adult leaders for a moment of life change.” It is the largest event that we attend as a youth group. Therefore, my plan is to treat this event as a reward for those students who are sincerely striving to grow in Christ, who have displayed consistency in both deed and action in regards to their profession of faith, and who are faithful in church attendance. Beginning September 1, we will begin tracking our attendance requirements. There are roughly 176 services (Sunday school, morning worship, evening worship, and Wednesday night) between 9/1 and 7/2. We are requiring your attendance to 88 or 50% of the services. We are also asking that you attend State Youth Convention as well as meet fundraising goals. We will be sending additional information home soon.
After school tutoring and study hall will also be starting this month as well as a youth boys’ Bible study and discipleship class. The tutoring and study hall will be available each Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon from 4:00 to 5:00pm during the 2013/2014 school year. The Bible study and discipleship class will be each Tuesday night at 6:00pm and will run in conjunction with our Men’s Fellowship.
In closing, I want to remind you of our annual Fall Festival as it will be here before we know it. Please stay tuned for future announcements regarding this event.
Love you guys!
Robert
